My Mom was dying of cancer and she told me a horror story about herself. I didn’t believe it at first; but when I saw her picture on the Internet and how she’s been missing for twenty years, I believe it now. She left me nothing but a box of her personal papers. I haven’t had a chance to go through them yet. It was too painful.”
“My Mom told me that she was secretly married and pregnant, her husband was in the mafia. He wasn’t like his family; he was kind and loving and was excited to become a father. Her parents didn’t know about him or the baby and they were going to tell them that weekend.”

“Mom remembered the envelope he had given her the night before. He had asked her not to open it only in an emergency,” She laughed. Of course, the first thing she did when he left was open the envelope. She was astonished to find it full of one hundred-dollar bills. She counted it and stuck it in her underwear drawer. But when she got the call, she stuffed her clothes into a bag along with the money and ran to the bus stop. The bus took her to the train depo and she bought a ticket to Los Angeles.
